there will always be remnants left over of relationships for years to come. things you may remember about this other person--things that may change, but you hold on to that piece of them.

tonight i received a message from my first real love. it was a link to a picture, followed by his words: "have a good laugh." it was a pun, a stupid joke, the kind that consume my whole body with laughter. "i thought you would appreciate that," he said.

people remember certain parts of you, the parts they want to.
