as i think back, i think i was fairly happy in castle rock, where we regularly went to trivia and started to have friends, and had a target close, and loved each other. i remember the trip to the zoo, in march, where i thought, "finally a good day. maybe we can actually do this," after i'd been there almost three months. and that december, the day after our anniversary, i said, i can't do it, i want to go home. and still i stayed.
tonight, john darnielle sang to me, "i am gonna make it through this year if it kills me." and i am gonna make it through this year if it kills me.
